Also Sonos integration is not fantastic with Elan, not sure about Control4 but it’s not great. To answer your question on Sonos, in this case I would require a Sonos Connect for each source and even at my slight Sonos discount your looking at around £200 x 5 (5 zones). Pay no attention so some parts in the link above as it’s slightly incorrect.
MAX2PLAY PLEX MEDIA PLAYER MANUAL
The manual for the Elan/LMS integration is linked below to give you an idea of how Elan (Via iPads, iPhones, Elan touchscreens, or even Amazon Alexas) controls the Media Zones etc. It’s all well tinkering on your own stuff but when it comes down to clients paying £10/15K+ it has to just ‘work’.
MAX2PLAY PLEX MEDIA PLAYER HOW TO
I know how to install the S1616A and Duet Server as have done for clients before but not using a Unraid build and wouldn’t in the future. The Elan S1616A can support dual units for 16 zones or 32 channels but my five bed house does not require that! I could place HomePods around or Amazon things but I already have 4 ceiling speaker and 1 outdoor zone hardwired in recently going to my centralised Rack which the speaker wiring terminates at the Elan Matrix/Amp (called Elan S1616A) that supports 8 zones or 16 channels (I only require 5, for now).
MAX2PLAY PLEX MEDIA PLAYER DRIVERS
I use Plex for video as is Elan Plex drivers for Roku, Apple TV 4K etc but this is the music bit I’m after sorting out. Again, I wouldn’t install this in a client’s house, I would use the duet servers and as mine is unused I could use that in a future project. It’s not possible just to use random bits etc but as Unraid supports Logitech Media Server (LMS) then this could be possible. Yes it’s not something I need to work, just wondering if it’s possible and would make my Unraid box even more useful. There are similar methods but it saves me forking out £400-£500 on a second duet server and also saves me 2U spaces. It has to be running LMS as Elan has drivers for it, similar to the the Duet one.īelow is a photo of how its controlled but they are using HEOS LINK (in this case using the Elan iPad App): I would like to run something similar using LMS just using 5 USB DAC's with 5 RCA outputs, not just 3. They don't use Logitech Media Server anymore, they used to but now have something VERY similar. After taking a peak inside its simply a RPI 3 B+ with a HifiBerry and two USB DACs. The rack mounted server mentioned in the link above does all this and is based on a RPI 3 B+. Just thinking out loud maybe I could either Run a a single Docker instance for the Media player part and connects to the Logitech Media Server Docker, multiple dockers for each USB DAC? Or Multiple VM's for each USB DAC (although I don't think that would work as your cannot passthrough the same device twice as far as I know. I would not really like to have a pile of RPI's connected the to Elan Matrix/Amp and simply have multiple dockers with a USB DAC for each one or something similar. Just wondering if I could install LMS (the item linked is based on LMS) on Unraid and then have multiple docker containers which each use a separate USB DAC for the 5 sources? I have a six port USB 3.0 PCI-e card so no problems there.Ĭontrolling the music zones is done through my Elan photo below and the Server, Elan Controller, Elan Matrix/Amp etc are all in the rack so would make sense as the duet music servers are not cheap at around £400 each (this is a personal project, I would not do this for a client).īasically in the past people have using multi RPI's in the rack and installed Max2Play connected to LMS and using a DAC like the HifiBerry or USB one for better sound. I do have a new and unused rack mountable music server: but will need a second for my Matrix/Amplifier as I have 5 wired music zones around the house. As above really but I don't think Airsonic would work as just looking, there are no Elan drivers for controlling so would have to be LMS or Logitech Media Server (LMS).
